Forward St Barnabas

Client: PCC of St Barnabus, Herefordshire

Dates: 2020/21

St Barnabas’ is a fascinating Grade I listed building, believed to be one of only six English churches built or rebuilt during the Commonwealth Period (1649–1660), after its destruction during the Civil War.

I was appointed to coordinate the PCC’s development phase, after the volunteer project team secured the first round of NLHF funding. I supported the preparation of the project’s excellent activity plan and prepared all other documentation for the delivery phase application, including Management and Maintenance and Interpretation Plans. The project resulted in the removal of the church from the Heritage at Risk register, through a major programme of repairs. An associated heritage activity programme of events and activities gave residents and visitors the opportunity to learn about the village’s Civil War history.
