Repairs, access improvements and electrical works

Client: PCC of Yarpole with Croft

Dates: 2018-22

St Michael and All Angels Church is a charming, medieval Grade I listed church. Set in the grounds of Croft Castle, a popular National Trust property, it is a functioning parish church maintained by the PCC and completely separate from the castle.

Funding from Historic England, the National Churches Trust and a range of other regional and national trusts enabled the PCC to undertake repairs to the lead roof of Croft Church’s cupola, which had been badly damaged by a storm.  The successful completion of this project resulted in the removal of the church from the Heritage at Risk register.

Most PCC’s only have one church to look after; the PCC of Yarpole with Croft has two! I also obtained funding for urgent improvements to the iconic belltower at St Leonard’s Church, which was the first church in the country to host a shop and Post Office.
